Monroe County Membership,

As we prepare to bring 2019 to an end and we look ahead to 2020, I want to share with you a little bit about what has been happening and what you can look forward to as a member of the Monroe County Branch. There has been significant change both on the State and local level of the NAACP which can come with confusion and uncertainty. I want to assure you that you are in good hands on all levels of our beloved organization, and in Monroe County we are excited to share what is on the way for what will be a transformative year for our Commonwealth and the nation. The PA State Conference elected Mr. Kenneth L. Huston to serve as our next President, and we are expecting great things from his leadership. He has pledged his full support to our branch and plans to visit us in the New Year to see why we are and will continue to be a successful organization that is dedicated to its community.

As many of you are now aware, Thomas Braxton Jones, Jr. decided to step down after serving this branch and our community well as President. We thank him for his years of dedication and service and look forward to him fully enjoying life and wish him every success in future projects.

Our Executive Committee has been shifting and evolving since the beginning of 2019, and as we reorganize and sharpen our focus these things are expected. We sincerely appreciate the work of every former member, and we know that the success of our organization requires change and growth. New challenges are something I embrace and encourage in both my personal and professional life and I want you to know I am ready to serve you. Change can be difficult, but it is necessary and inevitable. Be confident that those who will serve as your Committee in 2020 are committed to you and the mission statement of the NAACP. We cannot accept-nor do we deserve-anything less.

In the coming weeks, I will send you information on upcoming events and programs you can look forward to next year, but I will leave you with one thing: You are the NAACP. We need your support and membership to achieve our goals. Renew your membership and pledge with us today (www.monroecountynaacp.org) to make the future here in Monroe County better for us all. We will make history in 2020, and it starts with you. On behalf of NAACP Monroe County Branch #2275, thank you and we look forward to making progress one step at a time-together.
